Press Release Summary: Orlando, Fla. - Da Vida Pools, LLC won four prestigious Gold Awards and one Merit Award during the 2007 Association of Pool & Spa Professionals' International Awards of Excellence ceremony held on Thursday, November 29th at the Rosen Center Hotel, in Orlando, Florida.
Press Release Body: The Austin, Texas-based company's Gold Awards were for projects in the Traditional Pools Under 600 square feet, Geometric Pools Under 600 square feet and Technical Achievement categories. The Merit award was for Pools With A Natural Setting.
In the company's first year of participation in the competition, it won more Gold awards than any other company in the country.
"Before the ceremony, we were told we won at least one award. When they announced our Merit award, we were very honored to accept it. Then, they announced our names again for the Gold award and then three more times again for Gold-the excitement was overwhelming," says Co-owners Andre Del Re and Lisa North.
The Traditional Winner is a two-story Grecian-ended pool with two symmetrical curved staircases connecting the top-level spa with the pool below. An 8 ft wide water curtain flows from the spa to the pool, hiding a pool bar behind.
The Geometric Pool is a set of connected rectangles, resembling a cross-word puzzle. Each section rises to reach an 18" raised spa at the end. Each level has a watersheer flowing from the deck to the pool.
Two projects won awards for Technical Achievement. One project rises 21 feet out of the ground and supports a 10 foot deep negative edge pool with a glass mosaic tile interior and a firewall on the negative edge. The other project is perched 20 feet above ground on the side of a cliff that is so steep it is difficult to walk on.
The project winning the award for Natural Setting consisted of large weathered limestone boulders strategically placed to mimmick a natural Texas "swimmin' hole."
More than 900 installations were entered in the 2007 Awards of Excellence competition. During the ceremony, 161 awards were presented, including the three Chairman's Awards. 17 awards for merit, 32 bronze medals, 49 silver medals, and 61 gold medals, and were also awarded. There were 34 categories represented.
"We are excited to continue the Awards of Excellence tradition this year," said APSP President and CEO Bill Weber. "The AOE ceremony is an important part of our overall association, as it offered members and guests an opportunity to appreciate just how far the industry has come in terms of technological and artistic achievement."
